About Asukal

I’ve never been the type of person that you would say has a sweet tooth, but I started baking because I love celebrations, events, gatherings, making wonderful memories and most of all, putting the biggest smile on the face of a person, that has a sweet tooth…

It all began when my mother-in-law made some profiteroles in the UK.  My husband and I were going over to his friends’ house for New Years’ Eve, and I thought… let’s make something homemade and bring it over to their place.  We commissioned my mother-in-law to teach me how to make these ever so delicious, decadent and worth every calorie profiteroles… and the rest was history!

Ever since then, I have been taking an interest in baking… I started off making the same profiteroles at home… the first few attempts were definitely sad and hilarious at the same time, but I had a lot of fun making them with my best friend.  They were nowhere near as tasty and pretty as my mother-in-law’s but we decorated them to death to make up for everything else. I'm happy to say, that I’m now able to make them as good as the original ones.

My love of mango then entered the scene and I started to make these silky, velvety and super moreish mango mousse cakes.  My friends would fight over them and it’s a definite hit wherever and whenever.

Girlfriends started getting married… the in thing of “everything homemade” started becoming a fad… so two of my sweet girlfriends decided that my tiramisu shot glasses were “a must” to their wedding, of course…it’s a wedding, everything must have alcohol, *winks*, I’d like to think they were tasty not because of the booze, but because they were made with love…

Finally, everything French was awesome… Patisserie, Boulangerie, Ganache… well truth is, it kinda is, that’s when, French Macarons came to my life… they were soooo cute, and if done right, so tasty…  Started making them as well, and one of my closest girlfriend started buying them in bulk for edible wedding favors, so I finally said…
